FAQ for Integration Testing

Use your purchasing system to PunchOut to the Dell test environment, and then step through the test scenarios to validate that the integration was successful. When all of the scenarios have succeeded, confirm and exit, and then you will be able to request the activation of the production environment.

  • Ensure that the login credentials you entered within your purchasing system match those that were defined during the set up activity.
  • Ensure that all of the test environment settings were entered correctly within your purchasing system.
Selecting "invite someone to collaborate" here produces the same results as selecting it from the page behind. This off-canvas shuts and then the other immediately opens.

Here are some troubleshooting tips if you encounter an error message or observe an issue:

  • If the issue involves settings within your purchasing system, then you (or a technical contact for your organization) might be able to rectify it faster than an external contact.
  • If the issue involves your purchasing system software or third-party middleware, you can refer to the documentation for these products and services, or contact the vendors directly.
  • Or if you would prefer our assistance, you can always contact a Dell expert.
In the breadcrumb and page title, "New" is replaced with the purchasing system name and "Integration" is replaced with the catalog type after the integration successfully launches. For example, "New Integration" becomes "Coupa PunchOut".

Integration Testing

If you have configured your purchasing system for the test environment, then you should be ready to test the Dell Punchout Catalog and electronic purchase orders. While testing, please validate that all of the below scenarios are functioning as expected. If you encounter issues during testing, please resolve the issues and then re-test.

The Dell test environment provides the same user experience that you will see when the production environment is activated. However, during testing, your electronic purchase orders will not be fulfilled or shipped because these are treated as test orders only.

Test Scenarios

  1. The Dell PunchOut option within my purchasing system successfully connects to the Dell Catalog.
  2. The Dell products and negotiated pricing in the test environment agree with my expectations.
  3. I can add items to my Cart and submit an order requisition that is successfully returned to my purchasing system.
  4. I can successfully submit the following test electronic purchase orders to Dell from my purchasing system (purchase orders from the test environment will not be processed by Dell and you will not be charged):
  • A purchase order with a single line item.
  • A purchase order with multiple line items and quantities greater than one.
  • One or more purchase orders that use the various shipping addresses we plan to use in production.
  • (Optional) Test scenarios that are specific to my organization.
